Buh? Guh?

What the hell happened to Battlestar Galactica? Seriously, what was that? I mean, the trial was great. Rolo Lampkin was great. Apollo's speech was fantastic and really hit at the heart of some of the conflict on the show. And, while I can get behind the idea of our new Cylons, I hope to God that the writers have a damn good explanation for the gratuitous and wholly out-of-place use of "All Along the Watchtower."

That was just weird. And that's what I told my wife after I watched it. "The show got weird."

She feels that the show has jumped the shark. I'm desperately hoping that isn't the case. But I worry.

UPDATE: I just want to make it clear though that if it weren't for that song being there, I would have loved this episode! I would have been jumping up and down on the couch and scaring the cat! But, gah! It was just weird! However, I'm thinking back on it now, while waiting for the final podcast on iTunes, and the bits that I liked about last night have me really excited for the show.

I suspect that when all is revealed that we'll find out that the final five Cylons are a benevolent group, hoping to protect and lead the Humans to Earth, unlike the vengeful seven Cylons we've already met. And, this is my shot-in-the-dark guess, but I'm guessing that when they get to Earth, they find it populated ONLY by Cylons. Billions of unique, individual Cylons. But, at this point, anything can happen and I almost wouldn't be surprised.

I'm SO glad we chose to watch last night's Battlestar, it being the only episode I've seen this entire season! Boy, what a GREAT decision that was!

If it weren't for that song! Damn that song. Seriously, this would have been an excellent episode. It sets up so much. It answers some questions and opens up a whole host of new questions. And, like I said, the courtroom scene was fantastic. Jamie Bamber totally sold that speech. And to see Apollo speak truth to the hypocrisy of eveyone aboard that ship was brilliant. And the revelation of FOUR Cylons! That should have been mind-blowing for fans of the show. If it weren't for that song.

My god, they were humming! There were standing in a large, empty, echoey room humming! Truly, I felt embarrassed.

"Best show on television," I would say. But I can't explain this. I'll still watch next season but this one was just... weird.

Um, maybe it's just me, but I didn't seem to mind that song at all. At least it wasn't Nickelback. Uf!
