And then I read an interview with Joss Whedon, the mastermind behind Firefly and Serenity (and all that Buffy stuff, too). It's a short interview, but worth checking out. And there was one bit that caught my eye and made me reconsider the Special Edition Serenity DVD.
Interviewer: So give me hope for a Serenity II
JW: Hope for it probably rests with this DVD.
Here's the thing about Serenity. For all it's critical acclaim (or at least, general liking), it was widely considered a failure. Except for the fact that it wasn't! It made money at the box office and the DVD's have been selling like crazy! So, except for the fact that Joss and all the actors are busy, there is still the possibility of a sequel someday.
Order Serenity Now! (available Aug. 21)

* I have this vague feeling like I'd seen it three times in the theater, but I no longer trust my memories

I think you should host a Serenity Special Edition DVD viewing party.
Just a suggestion.
We could even combine in with a Heroes marathon!
Just another suggestion.
I'm liking this idea of yours. At the moment, I don't own either of those, but want to.
Sadly, at the moment, work and after-work work is sucking away every last minute of my day.
But, yes, I like this idea. And I want to make it happen.
"Miracles happen when we make them happen."
I must say that as much as I enjoyed Heroes when it first aired, I'm doubly enjoying it now that it's on DVD.
And that Paul Pope book sucks by the way. He just meanders on like he's god's gift to the artworld, and I'd say that 70% of the book is filled with work of his that I already own in some shape or capacity or have already seen.
I hate him. Can't wait until he publishes something real again.
